Placement of Mile Markers Marks Countdown to TD Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race

Classic American road race set for Saturday, Aug. 6, in Cape Elizabeth, Maine

The traditional countdown to the TD Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race got underway Wednesday (July 6) - exactly one month until race day - with the placement of Mile Markers along the scenic course in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Cape Elizabeth Public Works employees Harold Young (beard) and Josh Dennison installed the markers along the route in preparation for the 19th edition of the classic American road race, set for Saturday, August 6. More than 6,500 runners, including some of the world’s top road racers, will pass by these signs one month from now in an event that has become a celebration of health and fitness for Maine residents. Founded by Olympic Gold Medalist and Maine native Joan Benoit Samuelson, the TD Beach to Beacon begins near Crescent Beach and ends in Fort Williams Park at the historic Portland Head light, the most photographed lighthouse in the world. The event’s lead sponsor is TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank, one of the 10 largest banks in the U.S. with nearly 8 million customers at more than 1,300 convenient locations from Maine to Florida. The race beneficiary this year is My Place Teen Center (www.myplaceteencenter.org).
